Flavors of the Avenue is leaving the cramped tent and spreading out along the Avenue, making room for local families to enjoy the event and bring the kids! Local retailers, restaurants, and Lume Studios, are teaming together to create 4 distinctly kid-friendly zones for your family to enjoy. Give your over-stuffed tummies a break and enjoy these FREE fun zones while walking from restaurant to restaurant.
At the Singing Fountain: Making Music! Your children can march to their own beat as they use drumsticks from King’s Music to play on an upcycled percussion instrument made from recyclables from Philly Flavors Ice Cream and other EPA restaurant kitchens. Step up to Lume’s Make and Take art table to construct your own maracas. Sing A Long with Songbird music at 1!
At Tildie’s Toybox: Active Play! Try your hand (or arm!) with Tildie’s Stikball target practice: hit the target and win a prize! Kate from Twee will join in on the fun with her locally handmade sidewalk chalk. Check out her samples and help decorate the sidewalk. Enter the raffle to win super fun prizes from Tildie’s Toy Box and benefit charity! Be sure to grab a signature Tildie’s Toy Box balloon!
At Mifflin Triangle: Play and Pretend! Have your face painted and dig through the Treasure Trunk for a dress up costume donated from local retailers like: A Star is Born, A Man’s Image, Baum’s, Bella Baby, Mesh Vintage, Miss Demeanor, NRS, Painted Lady, South Fellini, and Tildie’s Toybox and take a selfie in the Fancy Frame Fatale Frame. Then enjoy some self-directed toys and sensory activities for the little ones courtesy of Lume.
At Lume Creative Learning Studios Home Base: Food Art! Get messy with spin art in salad spinners. Construct a pasta craft with dried pastas from Avenue restaurants and retailers. Create a beautiful print using stamps made from local fruits and veggies. Make a sculpture with Pizza Dough from Slice Pizza! Lume Creative Learning Studios encourages the kids to play with their food!
